My client are currently looking for someone with proven technical abilities to work as a software engineer in a small, but busy software engineering group.  This person will be involved in development of current software products as well as full development cycle for future products.

 

Academic or industrial programming experience will be considered, but the successful candidate must be able to work as part of a multi-discipline team and deliver solutions to a given set of requirements and time scales.  An understanding of spectroscopy systems would be a definite bonus.  A 2:1 degree in Computer Science or Computational Physics, preferably with a Masters degree or PhD.

 

You should have previous development C/C++ experience on Windows, Unix, Linux or Mac OS X.  OOA and OOD exposure preferred, along with experience in Java or C#.  Exposure to SVN or similar source control would be an advantage.

 

Other useful skills: TCP/IP, JDBC, JNI, Unix shell script, GUI design, Motif, Eclipse.  You should be a team player, self-motivated, strong work ethic.

 

Based Manchester.  Excellent salary dependent on experience.
