Delphi Developers x4-5 UK
Working on completely new business opportunities, x 4-5 positions are available in the Midlands UK, in a dedicated project team. Positions also available in North West UK.
Both senior and junior positions are available. Experience of Delphi programming is essential, PL/SQL and RDB (Oracle) skills are desirable, structured programming is essential.
At the end of the project (or twelve months) full cross-training will be provided to .NET (C#, ASP).
Candidate Profile:
The development department has a flat structure with small teams formed according to the needs of the developments in question. This means that they do not have fixed team leader roles but allocate responsibility based on experience and skills. An ideal candidate must:
-Be flexible and adaptable (but disciplined) when approaching tasks
-Work well within teams and be able to foster good working relationships
-Be prepared to take total responsibility for the completion of tasks
-Be technical rather than man-management oriented
The PARIS product is a technically complex 3 tier architecture utilising MIDAS and COM technology; they are also commencing a technology refresh utilising .NET architecture. A senior candidate would have direct and demonstrable experience of using both these technologies to design and implement a system. A junior candidate would have knowledge of 3-tier systems in general.
Role:
To work in a team of analyst programmers, developing and maintaining the Company software products. Approximately 80% of the time will be spent designing and developing new modules, with the remainder allocated to maintaining and enhancing existing software.
Specific activities within the role include:
-Assisting with the production and review of Functional Specifications
-Working from Functional Specifications to formulate software designs and create Design Specifications
-Working from Design Specifications to design and develop coded modules
-Developing and executing Unit Test Plans
-Analysing and correcting software deficiencies and coding faults
-Reviewing specifications and other developers` designs and code.
Skill/Experience Required by Senior and Junior developers:
Degree level qualification in IT or Business related subject
3 or more years commercial Delphi experience
Experience of object packaged development
Skill/Experience Required by Senior but desired by Junior developers:
Experience of structured methodologies for software design (UML - Desirable)
Experience of developing within a 3 tier architecture
Experience of the Design of 3 tier architectures
Practical DCOM/COM and Borland MIDAS design and implementation experience
3 or more years commercial Oracle and PL/SQL development experience (or equivalent SQL Server)
Database design experience (structure, relationships and triggers)
Experience of working to ISO9000 / TickIT standards
Knowledge of XML and its use in specifying and implementing software interfaces
