Summary of Role: As a Design Engineer you will play an integral role in the R&D Department, involved in designing hardware and software for new products and developing enhancements to the current product range. The role would ideally suit a motivated individual who has a practical knowledge of MacOSX and/or Linux application development. Responsibilities: - To develop applications to run on standard platforms (MacOSX or linux) - To develop specific enhancements or extensions to existing products. - Develop designs from initial concept to completed functioning system, so that product ideas are developed as quickly as possible into designs that can be tested, maintained and provide a focused match to distinct customer requirements. - Work on the design, coding and testing of software mainly in high-level language, and produce design documentation. - To report regarding the progress of project. - Where appropriate, aid in system design and to identify problems with both hardware and software, at the system level. - Check the operation of software on a peer-to-peer level within Engineering when requested. - Provide design skills and expertise to other projects when required. - To undertake testing of the design and code. - To provide post introduction support when necessary Key Qualifications and Experiences: - Usually a good honours degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related subject. - Practical knowledge of MacOSX and /or Linux application development. - An understanding of real time systems and/or embedded control applications. - Knowledge of audio processing, MIDI control and suitable development environments - Experience of C++ and C - An interest in Multimedia and the creative use of electronics to produce functional products. - Knowledge of open source software development, deployment and licensing - A commitment to producing results.
