the company is going through some exciting changes within their Information Systems division and UNIX technology is a major part of their infrastructure. UNIX systems are a critical component of infrastructure and application delivery and are typically implemented where high powered, business critical database and application servers are required.
As a Principal UNIX Administrator, you will gain exposure to some exciting projects, incorporating the management of virtual teams. You will provide day to day support of multiple clustered enterprise-scale UNIX systems to a level of availability that meets and exceeds Service Level Agreements and Operational Level Agreements. You will be building high end HP and SUN servers (Superdome/SUN 15K) and developing cross site clusters with the support of VCS, this will incorporate both HP and SUN products. You will be responsible for all aspects of UNIX platform provision from design through to build, test, implementation and support and ensure a continuous, responsive service to internal and external customers.
You will have at least 5 years UNIX system administration skills, ideally in a large enterprise environment. You will demonstrate 5 years operating hands on experience, either HP_UX 10.20/11/11i or Solaris 7/8/9. You will have strong hardware skills including Superdome and SUN 15K. Strong knowledge of Veritas filesystem, volume manager, Cluster Server, Flashsnap and Netbackup. Any exposure to Jumpstart / Ignite / BMC Patrol / BMC Perform / HP Openview is an advantage but not essential.
