Solutions Specialist
The Role
Solutions Specialists provide in-depth solutions architecture consulting and take technical ownership of highly complex solutions to clients and delivery partners, ensuring product success during project delivery and matching clients needs to product functionality.
This is an exciting opportunity to apply deep experience in a demanding and rewarding commercial environment. This role will bring you into contact with senior technical, IT/OSS architecture and strategy staff within large telecoms providers and systems integrators - worldwide. Highly customer-facing, this role demands a high level of personal and technical skills.
Responsibilities
Complex software engineering at the highest level throughout product delivery lifecycle. Communicating and validating with the client the requirements, gaining agreement on the product integration strategy, data load, business process definition and data migration strategy.
Throughout engagement to ensure knowledge transfer and education of any systems integration partner, imparting product specialized knowledge and architectural concepts.
Support the entire sales to implementation cycle. Involvement during the pre-sales stage to set the solutions architecture and consult on best practices for data fill and migration. Continue to own responsibility of proposed solution through deployment to successful conclusion.
Proactively manage technical relationships with clients and systems integration partners to ensure product functionality and architecture is aligned to the clients’ requirements. Escalate any concerns at an early stage on partner capability or highlight opportunities for additional education of the partner.
Leading a team of technically focused consultants, managing technical aspects of the project delivery and acting as a mentor for team members.
Commercial awareness and support of the project financials. Working closely with the Project Manager to ensure overall project success and highlighting any work streams that may have a financial impact to the project.
Pre-requisites
Ten years plus industrial software development experience, post degree gained in the production of complex software, in a team environment.
Proven experience of client facing workshop environments for requirements gathering and analysis, high level design, project planning and mentoring.
Demonstrable experience of successful integration within complex system environment, ideally involving external systems integrators.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to present complex technical concepts clearly and in detail coupled with the ability to successfully influence a technicall focused audience.
Proven commercial awareness and an ability to predict and mitigate the effect of commercial constraints on the technical strategy
Experience of
Object Oriented Analysis, Design and Development, preferably in a J2EE environment
EAI techniques and technologies including Web services, JCA and middleware bus architectures (Tibco, Vitria MQ etc.,)
Oracle Relational Database development including relational database design and implementation
Telecoms transmission technologies such as SDH/Sonet, ATM, IP MPLS, WDM, GSM, UMTS etc.,
Developing software to a high standard
Technical Skills
Experience in SDH/Sonet, ATM, IP MPLS, WDM, GSM, UMTS is desirable, with software skills in Object Oriented Analysis (J2EE), EAI technologies, middleware (Tibco, Vitria MQ etc) and Oracle Relational Database (development, design and implementation).
Personal Skills
The successful application should also be a highly motivated self-starter with a can-do attitude, a strong team player with good interpersonal skills who is flexible and able to support international travel and assignments
