Support the implementation and application of Local Area Network Systems. Responsibilities include implementation and ongoing support of the LAN (Local Area Network) protocol layers, operating systems layers (client and host), and user interface, as well as installation and
maintenance of LAN applications, and may also involve setup of new projects and troubleshooting user problems on an ongoing basis. The job often requires knowledge of multiple hardware platforms in current use.
Responsible for technical operations of company's data center and associated hardware including servers, storage area networks (SAN), network attached storage (NAS) and tape libraries. Administers the Microsoft operating systems including performance monitoring, capacity planning, troubleshooting and preventative maintenance. Plan and support disaster recovery and business continuity. Plans and implements operational system changes including version upgrades and service patches. Provides specialized technical support and planning guidance to deployed IS&T organizations. Maintains records on repairs, down time, and configuration changes. Updates and maintains appropriate databases. Employee will be expected to carry a pager and provide off-hours support on occasion, and will be part of a global network operations group "virtual team" with peers from the major offices.
Job-Related Skills and Experience:
Technical experience with Microsoft 2000 server, Windows NT 4.0 operating system, and server-based anti virus products. Knowledge of network and systems security, performance tuning, backup and restore, capacity planning, troubleshooting and consultative user support skills. Expertise with customer and supplier relations. Strong oral and written communications skills, including experience in writing technical documentation. Bachelors Degree in relevant field, or five years of equivalent experience.
